The architectural design of these offices was quite contemporary and the interiors needed to work with this. The offices comprised of a large open plan ground floor office and reception area; open plan offices on the first floor with the exception of canteen and shower room facilities; and offices and boardroom on the second floor.
The main objective was to fit a minimum 72 staff and ancillary storage into 730 sq.m. The oval boardroom led to the design of an oval boardroom table. Again this is crafted of oak with a maple border but divided in three pieces with subtle joins in the shape of a ‘w’. A matching cabinet conceals audiovisual equipment; a drinks cabinet and mini-fridge.
The colour scheme maintains the corporate colours of dark blue and burnt orange but is also based on a painting by Rayleen Clancy. Third and fourth floors of the building contain four exclusive 3-bedroom penthouse apartments, known as The Bushels. These were fitted out with maple kitchen units and solid black granite counters; oak floors; bathroom and kitchen tiling; and contemporary Italian light fittings
On entering the premises the client is greeted with reception and service desks in a semicircular arrangement. These desks are of oak with a maple border separated by oval sandblasted glass screens. In order to illuminate each desk individually, spotlights are suspended from the top of the screen. A higher reception desk with illuminated front panel in glass identifies it from the service desks. Custom-built furniture in similar style to the service desks was designed to conceal filing cabinets and office equipment. Polished cream floor tiles identify the ‘public’ space as opposed to that for use by staff. Spotlights set into the tiles illuminate the feature staircase, which was suspended from an orange spine wall. |
